چکیده

A statistical analysis of transmission holding time data based from two different Public Access Mobile Radio (PAMR) is presented. The data are obtained from digitised conversations by automatically identifying the spectrum of the in-band signalling that limits every transmission. It is shown how the empirical histogram is far from being exponential, which is the type most used in teletraffic issues. From the different theoretic distribution models adjusted to the transmission times a mixture of lognormals is the best fit. As transmission trunking needs far more signalling and the Grade of Service (GoS) is more crucial than when trunking by message, a careful choice of the distribution model is strongly recommended. The best fit distribution can be used to feed computer simulations in order to obtain accurate measurements of system performance.

Statistical Modelling of Channel Occupancy in Trunked PAMR Systems

1. INTRODUCTION Public Access Mobile Radio systems (PAMR) using trunking technology allow more efficient use of the frequency spectrum, as all the users of the system jointly use a common pool of channels. This counteracts one of the limiting factors on the growth of conventional Private Mobile Radio systems (PMR), frequency congestion [1]. Moreover the public trunked network offers the user ma...

Voice Holding Time Distribution in Trunked Pamr Systems

In this paper a statistical model of the call holding time in Public Access Mobile Radio) PAMR systems is presented. For this purpose a scanning receiver has been used to monitor the call duration, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test has been applied to measure the goodness of fit of the candidate distributions. The exponential distribution often used to model trunked systems with the M/M/C queue i...

Performance evaluation of public access mobile radio (PAMR) systems with priority calls

This paper presents a procedure for estimating the mean access delay of calls in Public Access Mobile Radio (PAMR) trunking systems. For this purpose, an approximation of the mean waiting time in the M/G/C queue w ith non-preemptive priority is developed and numerically tested. The proposed approximation is based on other existing approximations and has been tested for the conditions commonly f...

SPAMR: Extending PAMR with stochastic time

In this paper we introduce time information in PAMR (Process Algebra for the Management of Resources). PAMR is a process algebra that simplifies the task of specifying processes whose behavior strongly depend on the resources that they have. One of the drawbacks of PAMR is that there is not an appropriate notion of time. In this paper we will consider that the duration of actions is controlled ...

Idle and Inter-arrival Time Statistics in Public Access Mobile Radio (PAMR) Systems

In this paper the statistics of the message arrivals to a PAMR trunked system are investigated. The tools used to perform the statistical analysis have been previously used in similar works and are extremely simple. First, probability density functions are fitted to the channel idle time (time between the end of a message and the beginning of the next one on the same channel). To characterise t...
